"sm70- why not Duesenberg?" (sm70-whynotduesenberg)

During my afternoon ride today I found this big beautiful beast. This CT6 was specced just how I’d do mine; black with the Kona brown leather interior and the 404hp twin-turbo V6. I can’t tell you how much I approve of the design. Especially in black, it looks as important and old-school classy as a Cadillac used to, but it still has an effortless grace about that you normally associate with the biggest cars from Audi, BMW, and Mercedes. It looks like the kind of car where the gas pedal is used to dismiss lesser cars the way an omnipotent CEO dismisses subordinates from their corner office with a mere wave of their hand. In short, I love it. I can’t wait for the unveiling of the next Cadillac One, which will share the styling cues of the CT6.
In other news, I stopped by the hotel where I saw the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! again, expecting them to be gone. Instead, there were now at least 50 cars in the lot behind the hotel, many of them receiving bathes. All still had Jersey plates, and they were still all black, grey, white, and silver models, but there were now i3s in addition to the X1s, X5s, and 7-ers. Also, a couple of the X1s were in colors like copper and blue. Most importantly, however, was the presence of a logo on several of the cars. Before, it had just been one 750i with an America’s Cup logo on the door. Now, several of the cars had logos for a sporting event on the side, only this sporting event is slightly...bigger.
This actually makes sense, because the Team USA Olympic Swim Trials are held in downtown Omaha, and BMW is sponsoring the USA Olympic team as well as the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

I like the idea of a CT6, I really do. But when I saw one at an auto show it honestly just doesn’t feel like a Cadillac. The doors don’t make the satisfying thud that a Mercedes does, and the interior just feels... gimmicky, if that’s the right word.
I’ve never driven a new Cadillac but I’ve ridden in all of them minus the CT6, but if it’s as light as they say it is I’m sure it is at least decent.
I feel so bad for Cadillac because they’re Sooo close to being the great American brand. They always seem to nail everything but the details. The only car that is the exception is the CTS-V. That car should be their new standard.

All of BMW (and Mini’s by extension) test cars are licensed in NJ. They have their North American HQ in Cherry Hill. Volvo does (or did), which is why all of their test cars have NJ plates as well.
